How do we get to know other members?
By filling in your Introduction and reading others, you can gain a sense of common interests; another regular way to connect is on the #on-deck-chat and through the live gaming and creative events.

How often are the ‘live events’?
Gaming events are fortnightly (members can vote on their preferred choice) and we currently have creative get togethers twice monthly to encourage submissions for the themed monthly #the-cove-art-gallery and create Collaborative art. We have recently started regular Sailor Skillshare and Show and Tell Events aimed at sharing interests and upskilling members. Events usually run from 60 - 90 mins depending on numbers.

Is there a parent present for the events?
Mother Urchin typically sits in on the 'live' events or is normally close by.

How do you vett your membership?
We have a customised registration application that requires photo ID from guardians in order to verify who is in our protected community. We also require the same parent/guardian to attend a short (15 min) virtual 'Meet and Greet' with your youth and Mother Urchin to connect in person before we send out the Discord link.

Is it ok for parents to help out with reading and writing messages in The Cove?
Yes, please request the ‘Youth on Parent account’ document to confirm that you have selected the correct roles if you are assisting your youth. Also, be aware that if they have their mic on, we can hear you both - so remember to mute your mic while you are reading aloud ;)

Is there always someone online in The Cove?
Check in to see …we are a growing global youth community with members joining in from both hemispheres and assorted timezones. The admin crew are neurodivergent, self-directed learners who are juggling their own family environments and paid employment commitments also. We would like to encourage members to lean into building this community along with us.

Where do I find the upcoming events?
You can find the events menu up in the top left of The Cove Discord server screen:
Once you click on 'events', you should have a pop-up in the middle of your screen that shows you all the upcoming events - we encourage you to do that at your end as it will be specific to the timezone settings you have on your computer :) Click on ‘interested’ so we get an idea of how many might attend.

How do we keep updated with what’s happening?
The admin crew will make #announcements and notify members of important information or changes. You can find them on these menus.
Also check the 'Events' tab at the top of our website which shows Upcoming live events for the month ahead!

How do we pay for membership?
When you 'subscribe' you'll complete some registration steps and payment will be processed once verified. We use an integration of both Shopify and Whop services for secure and automated membership access to our Discord server.
You only get out of it, what you put into it.
